چکیده

Bragg X-ray scattering intensities are defined as scattering by the thermodynamic average electroncharge density. Purely elastic, kinematic X-ray scattering by a target in thermal equilibrium is always larger than Bragg scattering. At low temperatures, the elastic scattering becomes Bragg scattering. For large molecules, such as a crystal, at ordinary temperatures the elastic and Bragg scattering differ in a relative sense by O(N-l), where N is the number of vibrational degrees of freedom. For most practical cases the Bragg scattering is essentially the same as purely elastic scattering of X-rays.

Introducing an Optimized Method for Obtaining X-ray Diffraction Patterns of Biological Tissues

Introduction Individual X-Ray diffraction patterns of biological tissues are obtained via interference of coherent scattering with their electrons. Many scientists have distinguished normal and cancerous breast tissue, bone density, and urinary stone types using the X-Ray diffraction patterns resulting from coherent scattering. The goal of this study was to introduce an optimized method for obt...

Application of small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) for differentiation between normal and cancerous breast tissues

ABSTRACT Background: Coherent scattering leads to diffraction effects and especially constructive interferences. Theseinterferences carry some information about the molecular structure of the tissue. As breast cancer isthe most widespread cancer in women, this project evaluated the application of small angleX-ray scattering (SAXS) for differentiation between normal and cancerous breast tissues....

Synchrotron X-ray and Acoustic Studies of bcc-hcp Phase Transition of Fe

Introduction Elastic properties of hcp iron (Fe) provide crucial information about the composition and anisotropy of the Earth’s core. Recently, the phonon densities of state of hcp Fe at high pressure have been investigated up to 42 and 153 GPa by using inelastic nuclear resonance x-ray scattering. The results showed discrepancies from previous results of first-principle calculations [1, 2]. T...

Acquiring molecular interference functions of X-ray coherent scattering for breast tissues by combination of simulation and experimental methods

Background: Recently, it has been indicated that X-ray coherent scatter from biological tissues can be used to access signature of tissue. Some scientists are interested in studying this effect to get early detection of breast cancer. Since experimental methods for optimization are time consuming and expensive, some scientists suggest using simulation. Monte Carlo (MC) codes are the best...

Theoretical demonstration of how the dispersion of magnetic excitations in cuprate compounds can be determined using resonant inelastic X-ray scattering.

We show that in resonant inelastic x-ray scattering (RIXS) at the copper L and M edge direct spin-flip scattering is in principle allowed. We demonstrate how this possibility can be exploited to probe the dispersion of magnetic excitations, for instance magnons, of cuprates such as the high T(c) superconductors. We compute the relevant local and momentum dependent magnetic scattering amplitudes...
